normal; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Century Gothic';\">Nato a Pistoia, Italia, nel corso della sua lunga carriera di fotografo Aurelio Amendola ha sviluppato una particolare sensibilit\u00e0 per il mondo della scultura, documentando l&#8217;opera di Jacopo Della Quercia, Michelangelo e Donatello, e illustrando singoli capolavori e monumenti quali il pulpito pistoiese di Giovanni Pisano, il fregio robbiano dell&#8217;Ospedale del Ceppo, sempre a Pistoia, Santa Maria della Spina e il Battistero a Pisa, San Pietro in Vaticano. Quest&#8217;ultimo lavoro, primo di una serie dedicata ai grandi temi dell&#8217;arte italiana visitati secondo l&#8217;ottica personale del fotografo, presenta una campagna iconografica completamente nuova, calibrata sul &#8220;taglio&#8221; e sulle esigenze specifiche del progetto: approfittando della rara occasione di un contatto senza vincoli con i monumenti berniniani e, pi\u00f9 in generale, con i vari elementi architettonici e scultorei caratterizzanti la cattedrale, simbolo di tutta la cristianit\u00e0, Amendola riesce a riprenderne gli scorci e i particolari pi\u00f9 inaspettati. Nel 1994 il suo volume Un occhio su Michelangelo \u2013 dedicato alla cappella medicea in San Lorenzo a Firenze, di recente restaurata \u2013 ha vinto il \u201cPremio Oscar Goldoni\u201d. Nel 1995 una mostra su questo stesso tema viene organizzata a Milano, a Palazzo Reale, dall&#8217;Amministrazione Comunale. Nel 1997 gli \u00e8 stato conferito il premio \u201cCino da Pistoia\u201d, noto premio alla carriera. L&#8217;arte contemporanea rappresenta l&#8217;altro polo di grande interesse per Aurelio, che negli anni \u00e8 arrivato a raccogliere una vera e propria galleria di ritratti, comprendente i pi\u00f9 rinomati maestri del XX secolo come De Chirico, Lichtenstein, Pomodoro, Schifano, Kosuth, Warhol, per ricordarne solo alcuni. Questa collezione, che quotidianamente si rinnova con immutata passione, aggiornandosi sui nomi e sulle tendenze pi\u00f9 all&#8217;avanguardia, acquista un particolare valore culturale e umano grazie alla lunga frequentazione personale del fotografo con gli artisti. All&#8217;opera di Amendola si devono infatti numerose monografie dedicate ai maggiori scultori e pittori contemporanei, tra cui quelle su Marino Marini, Burri, Manz\u00f9, Fabbri, Ceroli, Vangi, Kounellis. Presso la Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro, sono esposte alcune delle foto-ritratto pi\u00f9 emblematiche del maestro pistoiese. Nel 2007 \u00e8 stato il primo artista a esporre una mostra fotografica al Museo dell&#8217;Hermitage di San Pietroburgo; il tema affrontato le opere scultoree di Michelangelo Buonarroti.<\/p><p class=\"p1\" style=\"margin: 0px; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-kerning: auto; font-optical-sizing: auto; font-feature-settings: normal; font-variation-settings: normal; font-variant-position: normal; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Century Gothic';\">Le sue opere fanno parte di prestigiose collezioni private e pubbliche; tra queste, Fondazione Maramotti di Reggio Emilia, GAM di Torino, Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro di Milano, del MAXXI di Roma, Fondazione Alberto Burri di Citt\u00e0 di Castello, Uffizi, Palazzo Fabroni di Pistoia, Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Pistoia e Pescia.<br \/>Incalcolabili le esposizioni nazionali e internazionali, innumerevoli i riconoscimenti: tra tutti, premio Cino da Pistoia (1997); Il Micco (2012); diploma Accademico Honoris Causa in Arti Visive e titolo di Accademico d\u2019Italia (2014, Accademia di Belle Arti di Catanzaro); docufilm Obiettivo sull\u2019arte (2015, regia di Beatrice Corti); premio Una vita per l\u2019arte (Gaeta, 2016).
